Non-contiguous Multi-organ Involvement of an Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
flammatory pseudotumor, is a relatively rare quasineoplastic lesion consisting of inflammatory cells and myofibroblastic spindle cells. The exact etiology of an IMT is unknown and whether an IMT represents a reactive or neoplastic process remains unclear. An IMT was initially described in the lung, but it has subsequently been found to potentially involve nearly all areas of the body (1-3). An IMT usually presents as a single mass within a single organ or sometimes as multifocal lesions within a single anatomic region. An IMT involving noncontiguous multi-organs is extremely rare (4, 5). We present a case of an aggressive IMT that involves multiple organs within different anatomic regions.

Successful treatment of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor by surgical resection and radiotherapy: A case report
Background: Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a tumor composed of myofibroblasts and a mixed inflammatory infiltrate that rarely undergoes malignant transformation. The most common sites of involvement include the lung, liver and orbit, but it has been reported to occur in nearly every site of the body, including oral cavity and soft tissue. Although common in other sites, such a tumo...

Introduction: Inflammatory myofibroblastic pseudotumors are initially described in the lung and various extrapulmonary sites such as the orbits, palatine tonsils, ears, gingiva, pterygomaxillary space, and periodontal tissues. These tumors rarely involve the larynx and predilection to the glottis occurs in an indolent manner. Case Report This case describes a laryngeal myofibroblastic tumor i...

Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor (IMT) is an uncommon benign neoplasm with unknown etiology that rarely affect parotid gland. Clinical and pathologic diagnosis of this neoplasm is difficult and is occasionally misdiagnosed as malignant. This reports presents the case of a 42 year old woman with IMT in the right parotid gland. Using fine needle aspiration cytology, pleomorphic adenoma and muco...
متن کاملA Case of Recurrent Pulmonary Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor with Aggressive Metastasis after Complete Resection
An inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare disease entity reported to arise in various organs. It is thought to be a neoplastic or reactive inflammatory condition, controversially. The treatment of choice for myofibroblastic tumor is surgery, and recurrence is known to be rare. The optimal treatment method is not well-known for patients ineligible for surgery. We report a 47-year-old...
